West Goshen Summary
History
West Goshen is a small unincorporated community located in the Central Valley of California, in Fresno County. It is situated in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, about 25 miles east of Fresno. The area was first settled in the late 1800s by ranchers and farmers, and the town was officially established in 1891.
The town was named after the nearby Goshen Valley, which was named after the biblical land of Goshen. The area was originally inhabited by the Yokuts Native American tribe, who were later displaced by the Spanish and Mexican settlers.
