Oregon is divided into seven distinct geographic regions: the Coast Range, the Cascade Range, the Columbia Plateau, the Klamath Mountains, the Blue Mountains, the Columbia River Gorge, and the Willamette Valley. The Coast Range runs along the Pacific Ocean and is home to the state's highest peak, Mount Hood, at 11,249 feet (3,429 m). The Cascade Range is a volcanic mountain range that runs through the western part of the state and is home to several volcanoes, including Mount St. Helens and Mount Hood. The Columbia Plateau is a large plateau that covers much of the eastern part of the state and is home to the Columbia River Gorge. The Klamath Mountains are located in the southwestern corner of the state and are home to Crater Lake National Park. The Blue Mountains are located in the northeastern corner of the state and are home to the Wallowa Mountains. The Columbia River Gorge is a deep canyon that runs along the Columbia River and is home to many waterfalls. The Willamette Valley is a fertile agricultural region located in the western part of the state and is home to the state capital, Salem.

Economy

Oregon's economy is largely based on natural resources, agriculture, and technology. The state is a major producer of timber, and its forests are home to some of the world's largest lumber companies. Oregon is also a major producer of agricultural products, including wheat, hay, potatoes, and onions. The state is also home to several technology companies, including Intel, Hewlett-Packard, and Tektronix.
