Valle Vista Summary
Valle Vista is a census-designated place (CDP) located in Riverside County, California. It is situated in the San Jacinto Valley, approximately 10 miles east of Hemet and about 25 miles south of Riverside. The population of Valle Vista was 8,845 at the 2010 census.
History
The area now known as Valle Vista was originally inhabited by the Cahuilla Indians. The first non-native settlers arrived in the area in the late 1800s. The area was originally known as Valle Vista Ranch, and was owned by the Valle family. The Valle family sold the ranch in the early 1900s, and the area was subdivided into small farms and ranches.
In the 1950s, the area began to experience rapid growth as people moved to the area from other parts of California. The population of Valle Vista increased from 1,000 in 1950 to 8,845 in 2010.
Geography
Valle Vista is located at 33°45'25"N, 116°54'45"W (33.756944, -116.9125). It is situated in the San Jacinto Valley, approximately 10 miles east of Hemet and about 25 miles south of Riverside.
The CDP has a total area of 4.2 square miles, all of which is land. Valle Vista is located in the San Jacinto Valley, which is surrounded by the San Jacinto Mountains to the north and the San Bernardino Mountains to the south.
Economy
The economy of Valle Vista is largely based on agriculture. The area is home to a variety of crops, including citrus, avocados, and dates. The area is also home to several wineries and vineyards.
In addition to agriculture, Valle Vista is home to a variety of businesses, including retail stores, restaurants, and professional services. The area is also home to a number of light industrial businesses.
Demographics
As of the 2010 census, there were 8,845 people, 2,945 households, and 2,323 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 2,097.3 people per square mile. The racial makeup of Valle Vista was 68.2% White, 1.3% African American, 0.7% Native American, 0.7% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 25.3% from other races, and 3.9% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 51.2% of the population.
There were 2,945 households, out of which 39.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.2% were married couples living together, 14.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.2% were non-families. 19.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 8.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.99 and the average family size was 3.41.
In the CDP, the population was spread out, with 30.2% under the age of 18, 10.2% from 18 to 24, 27.2% from 25 to 44, 21.2% from 45 to 64, and 11.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 33 years. For every 100 females, there were 97.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.2 males.
The median income for a household in the CDP was $37,917, and the median income for a family was $41,917. Males had a median income of $31,250 versus $25,000 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $14,917. About 11.2% of families and 14.2% of the population were below the poverty line, including 18.2% of those under age 18 and 8.2% of those age 65 or over.
