History

Metaline was founded in 1891 by a group of miners who were searching for gold and silver in the area. The town was named after the nearby Metaline Falls, which was named after the metal deposits found in the area. The town was incorporated in 1909 and was home to a number of businesses, including a hotel, a general store, a sawmill, and a blacksmith shop.
In the early 1900s, the town was a major hub for the mining industry in the area.
