Edison Summary

Edison is a small town located in Skagit County, Washington, United States. The town is situated on the banks of the Skagit River, approximately 20 miles north of Mount Vernon. The population of Edison was 1,093 at the 2010 census.

History

The area that is now Edison was first settled in the late 1800s by a group of Swedish immigrants. The town was originally known as Swede Town, but was later renamed Edison in honor of Thomas Edison, the inventor of the light bulb.
The town was officially incorporated in 1909 and was home to a number of businesses, including a sawmill, a general store, a hotel, and a post office. The town also had a school, which was built in 1910.

Edison is located at 48°25'25" North, 122°17'45" West (48.423, -122.296). The town is situated on the banks of the Skagit River, approximately 20 miles north of Mount Vernon.
The town has a total area of 0.7 square miles, all of which is land. The town is located in a rural area and is surrounded by farmland.

The economy of Edison is largely based on agriculture. The town is home to a number of farms, which produce a variety of crops, including apples, cherries, and hay. The town also has a number of small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, and a restaurant.
