Albion Summary
Albion is a small city located in King County, Washington, United States. It is situated on the south side of the White River, about 10 miles east of Seattle. The population was 2,845 at the 2010 census.
History
Albion was first settled in 1871 by a group of settlers from Albion, Michigan. The settlers named the area after their hometown. The first post office was established in 1872. The city was officially incorporated in 1891.
In the early 1900s, Albion was a thriving logging and farming community. The city was home to several sawmills, a shingle mill, and a brickyard. The city also had a hotel, a general store, and a school.
In the 1950s, the city began to decline as the logging industry declined. The city was eventually annexed by the city of Seattle in the 1970s.

Albion is located at 47°30′N 122°14′W (47.50, -122.23). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.9 square miles (2.3 km2), all of it land.

Albion’s economy is largely based on the service industry. The city is home to several restaurants, retail stores, and other businesses. The city also has a small industrial park.

As of the 2010 census, there were 2,845 people, 1,093 households, and 717 families residing in the city. The population density was 3,093.3 people per square mile (1,192.2/km2). There were 1,183 housing units at an average density of 1,288.3 per square mile (496.3/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 79.2% White, 8.2% African American, 0.7% Native American, 4.2% Asian, 0.2% Pacific Islander, 4.2% from other races, and 3.3% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 8.7% of the population.
There were 1,093 households, out of which 33.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.2% were married couples living together, 14.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.2% were non-families. 25.7% of all households were made up of individuals, and 8.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.60 and the average family size was 3.13.
In the city, the population was spread out, with 25.7% under the age of 18, 9.2% from 18 to 24, 32.2% from 25 to 44, 22.2% from 45 to 64, and 10.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females, there were 97.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.2 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $45,000, and the median income for a family was $50,000. Males had a median income of $36,000 versus $30,000 for females.
