Volo Summary

Volo, Illinois is a small village located in Lake County, Illinois. It is situated about 40 miles northwest of Chicago and is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The village has a population of about 2,500 people and is known for its rural charm and small-town atmosphere.

History

Volo was first settled in 1836 by a group of settlers from New York. The village was originally called “Volo Station” and was a stop on the Chicago and North Western Railway. The village was officially incorporated in 1887 and was named after the Latin word for “flight”.
