Newark Summary

Newark is a small village located in Kendall County, Illinois, United States. The village is situated on the Fox River, approximately 40 miles southwest of Chicago. According to the 2010 census, the population of Newark was 1,837.

History

The area that is now Newark was first settled in 1834 by a group of settlers from New York. The village was originally known as “Newark Station” and was named after the city of Newark, New Jersey. The village was officially incorporated in 1867.
