History

Mccullom Lake was first settled in the early 1800s by a group of settlers from New York. The village was originally known as "McCullom's Lake" after the first settler, John McCullom. The village was officially incorporated in 1891.
In the early 1900s, the village was a popular summer resort destination for Chicagoans. The village was home to several resorts, including the McCullom Lake Hotel, which was built in the late 1800s and was a popular destination for wealthy Chicagoans.
The village was also home to a number of factories, including a paper mill, a brickyard, and a canning factory. The village was also home to a number of small businesses, including a general store, a blacksmith shop, and a post office.

As of the 2010 census, there were 1,845 people, 717 households, and 486 families residing in the village. The population density was 2,039.4 people per square mile (788.3/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 94.2% White, 0.7% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.7% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 2.3% from other races, and 1.9% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 5.2% of the population.
There were 717 households, out of which 33.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.2% were married couples living together, 10.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.2% were non-families. 28.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 11.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
