Hutsonville Summary

Hutsonville is a small village located in Crawford County, Illinois, United States. The population was 517 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Robinson, Illinois Micropolitan Statistical Area.

History

Hutsonville was founded in 1819 by William Hutson, a Revolutionary War veteran. He named the village after himself and it was incorporated in 1872. The village was originally a farming community, but it later became a coal mining town. The coal mines were in operation until the 1950s.

Geography

Hutsonville is located at 39°14'25"N 87°45'45"W (39.240278, -87.7625). According to the 2010 census, the village has a total area of 0.6 square miles (1.6 km2), all land.

Economy
