Sublette Summary

Sublette, Illinois is a small village located in Lee County, Illinois. It is situated on the banks of the Rock River, about 25 miles west of the city of Rockford. The village has a population of approximately 2,500 people and is part of the Dixon-Sterling Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History

Sublette was founded in 1836 by a group of settlers from New York. The village was named after a prominent local family, the Sublette’s, who were among the first settlers. The village was incorporated in 1867 and has remained relatively unchanged since then.
