Naplate Summary

Geography
Naplate is located at 41°19'25" North, 88°45'45" West (41.323607, -88.762490). According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.6 square miles (1.6 km2), all land.
History
Naplate was founded in 1854 by a group of settlers from New York. The village was named after the nearby Naplate Creek, which was named after a Native American chief. The first post office was established in 1856.
In the late 19th century, Naplate was a thriving river port, with a large number of steamboats and barges docking at the village. The village was also home to a number of industries, including a flour mill, a sawmill, a brickyard, and a distillery.
In the early 20th century, Naplate was a popular tourist destination, with many visitors coming to enjoy the scenic views of the Illinois River. The village was also home to a number of resorts, including the Naplate Hotel, which was built in 1906.

The racial makeup of the village was 97.2% White, 0.2% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.2% from other races, and 1.9% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.3% of the population.
There were 441 households, out of which 28.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.2% were married couples living together, 11.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.3% were non-families. 30.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.47 and the average family size was 3.09.
In the village, the population was spread out, with 25.2% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 22.7% from 45 to 64, and 15.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females, there were 97.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.2 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $41,250, and the median income for a family was $50,000. Males had a median income of $37,500 versus $25,000 for females. The per capita income for the village was $19,945. About 4.2% of families and 6.2% of the population were below the poverty line, including 8.3% of those under age 18 and 4.2% of those age 65 or over.
