McLean Summary

Mclean is a small village located in McLean County, Illinois, United States. It is situated in the central part of the state, about 25 miles north of Bloomington and about 30 miles south of Peoria. The village has a population of approximately 1,000 people and is part of the Bloomington-Normal Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History

Mclean was founded in 1854 by a group of settlers from Ohio. The village was named after John McLean, a prominent politician and jurist from Ohio. The village was incorporated in 1859 and has remained relatively small since then.
The village was an important stop on the Illinois Central Railroad, which ran through the village from 1854 to 1971. The railroad was a major factor in the growth of the village, as it allowed for the transportation of goods and people to and from the village.
