Marissa Summary

Marissa, Illinois is a small village located in St. Clair County, Illinois. It is situated about 40 miles east of St. Louis, Missouri and is part of the Metro-East region of the state. The village has a population of 1,719 people, according to the 2010 census.

History

Marissa was founded in 1818 by a group of settlers from Kentucky. The village was named after Marissa, the daughter of one of the settlers. The village was incorporated in 1872 and has remained relatively small since then.

Geography

Marissa is located in the southwestern part of St. Clair County, Illinois. It is situated on the banks of the Kaskaskia River, which is a tributary of the Mississippi River.
