Lisbon, Illinois is a small village located in Kendall County, Illinois, United States. The village is situated on the Fox River, approximately 40 miles southwest of Chicago. The population of Lisbon was 1,845 at the 2010 census.
History
The area that is now Lisbon was first settled in 1834 by a group of settlers from New York. The village was originally known as Lisbon Station, as it was a stop on the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad. The village was officially incorporated in 1867.
In the late 19th century, Lisbon was a thriving agricultural community. The village was home to several grain elevators, a flour mill, a creamery, and a cheese factory. The village also had a number of stores, a hotel, and a post office.
Geography
Lisbon is located at 41°37'25" North, 88°25'45" West (41.623607, -88.429093). According to the 2010 census, the village has a total area of 1.2 square miles, all land.
The village is situated on the Fox River, which is a tributary of the Illinois River. The Fox River is a popular destination for fishing, boating, and other recreational activities.

The racial makeup of the village was 97.2% White, 0.7% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.2% from other races, and 1.7% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.7% of the population.
There were 690 households, out of which 33.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.3% were married couples living together, 10.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.3% were non-families. 25.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 11.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.67 and the average family size was 3.20.
