Kaneville Summary

Kaneville is a small village located in Kane County, Illinois, United States. The village is situated in the Fox River Valley, approximately 40 miles west of Chicago. As of the 2010 census, the population of Kaneville was 1,541.

History

Kaneville was first settled in 1835 by John and Mary Kane, who were among the first settlers in the area. The village was originally known as Kanesville, but the name was changed to Kaneville in 1845. The village was officially incorporated in 1856.
Kaneville was a farming community for much of its history, and the village was home to several small businesses, including a general store, a blacksmith shop, and a grist mill. In the late 19th century, the village was home to a brickyard and a creamery.
