De Pue Summary
De Pue is a village located in Bureau County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,093 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Ottawa–Streator Micropolitan Statistical Area.
History
De Pue was founded in 1854 by a group of French-Canadian immigrants led by Father Pierre De Pue. The village was named after him. The first settlers were mostly farmers and the village was a small farming community for many years. In the late 19th century, the village began to grow and develop. The first school was built in 1868 and the first church was built in 1871. The village was incorporated in 1887.
In the early 20th century, the village began to industrialize. The first factory was built in 1906 and the village soon became a center for manufacturing. The village was home to several factories, including a steel mill, a paper mill, and a canning factory. The village also had a railroad station and a post office.
Geography
De Pue is located at 41°17'25" North, 89°25'45" West (41.290278, -89.429167). According to the 2010 census, the village has a total area of 0.9 square miles (2.3 km2), all land.

De Pue is a small village with a population of 1,093 people. The village is primarily a residential community, but it does have some light industry. The village is home to several small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, and a restaurant. The village also has a post office and a library.

As of the census of 2010, there were 1,093 people, 441 households, and 287 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,213.9 people per square mile (468.7/km2). There were 471 housing units at an average density of 517.2 per square mile (199.3/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 97.2% White, 0.2% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.2% from other races, and 1.9% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.3% of the population.
There were 441 households, out of which 28.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.2% were married couples living together, 11.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.3% were non-families. 30.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.47 and the average family size was 3.09.
In the village, the population was spread out, with 25.2% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 25.2% from 25 to 44, 24.2% from 45 to 64, and 17.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females, there were 94.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.2 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $37,500, and the median income for a family was $45,000. Males had a median income of $31,250 versus $21,250 for females. The per capita income for the village was $17,845.
