Congerville Summary

Congerville is a small village located in Woodford County, Illinois. It is situated in the heart of the Midwest, approximately halfway between Chicago and St. Louis. The village has a population of just over 500 people, and is part of the larger Eureka-Congerville-Goodfield Township.

History

The area that is now Congerville was first settled in 1835 by a group of German immigrants. The village was originally known as “New Berlin”, and was later renamed Congerville in 1854. The name was chosen in honor of the Conger family, who were among the first settlers in the area.
The village was officially incorporated in 1867, and the first mayor was elected in 1868. The village grew slowly over the years, and by the turn of the century, it had a population of just over 500 people.

Geography

Congerville is located in the heart of the Midwest, approximately halfway between Chicago and St. Louis. The village is situated in the northern part of Woodford County, and is part of the larger Eureka-Congerville-Goodfield Township.
The village is located on the banks of the Mackinaw River, and is surrounded by rolling hills and farmland. The village is also located near several state parks, including Mackinaw River State Park and Kickapoo State Park.

Economy

The economy of Congerville is largely based on agriculture. The village is home to several farms, and the surrounding area is known for its production of corn, soybeans, and other crops.
