Chicago Ridge is a village located in Cook County, Illinois, United States. It is a suburb of Chicago, located approximately 20 miles southwest of the city. The village was incorporated in 1914 and has a population of 14,305 as of the 2010 census.
The area that is now Chicago Ridge was originally inhabited by the Potawatomi Native American tribe. The first European settlers arrived in the area in the early 1800s, and the village was officially incorporated in 1914.
The village was originally known as Ridgeland, but the name was changed to Chicago Ridge in 1924. The name was chosen to reflect the village’s proximity to the city of Chicago.

Geography

Chicago Ridge is located in Cook County, Illinois, approximately 20 miles southwest of the city of Chicago. The village has a total area of 4.2 square miles, all of which is land.
The village is bordered by the villages of Oak Lawn to the north, Palos Hills to the east, Worth to the south, and Hometown to the west. The village is also bordered by the Cook County Forest Preserves to the north and west.
The village is located in the Chicago metropolitan area and is part of the Chicago-Naperville-Elgin, IL-IN-WI Metropolitan Statistical Area.
