Annawan, Illinois is a small village located in Henry County, Illinois. It is situated on the banks of the Rock River, approximately 30 miles southwest of the Quad Cities. The population of Annawan was 1,092 at the 2010 census.
History
The area that is now Annawan was first settled in 1835 by a group of settlers from New York. The village was originally known as “Hardscrabble”, but was later renamed Annawan in 1854 after the local Native American tribe, the Annawon. The village was officially incorporated in 1858.
In the late 19th century, Annawan was a thriving agricultural community. The village was home to several grain elevators, a flour mill, a creamery, and a canning factory. The village also had a number of stores, a hotel, a bank, and a post office.

Annawan is located at 41°17'25" North, 90°25'45" West (41.290278, -90.429167). According to the 2010 census, the village has a total area of 0.9 square miles, all of it land.

The economy of Annawan is largely based on agriculture. The village is home to several grain elevators, a flour mill, and a canning factory. The village also has a number of stores, a hotel, a bank, and a post office.

As of the 2010 census, there were 1,092 people, 441 households, and 298 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,213.3 people per square mile. The racial makeup of the village was 97.3% White, 0.2% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.2% from other races, and 1.9% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.3% of the population.
There were 441 households, out of which 32.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.6% were married couples living together, 10.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.2% were non-families. 28.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.47 and the average family size was 3.02.
In the village, the population was spread out, with 25.7% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 27.2% from 25 to 44, 22.7% from 45 to 64, and 16.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females, there were 94.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.2 males.
