Albers is a village in Clinton County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,093 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Centralia, Illinois Micropolitan Statistical Area.

History

Albers was founded in 1854 by German immigrants. The village was named after a German immigrant, John Albers, who was the first settler in the area. The village was incorporated in 1872.

Albers is a small rural community with a population of 1,093. The village is home to several small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, a restaurant, and a bank. The village also has a post office and a library.
The village is home to a number of manufacturing companies, including a plastics manufacturer, a metal fabricator, and a machine shop. The village also has a number of agricultural businesses, including a dairy farm, a grain elevator, and a feed mill.

Demographics

As of the census of 2010, there were 1,093 people, 441 households, and 298 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,213.9 people per square mile (468.7/km2). There were 471 housing units at an average density of 517.2 per square mile (199.3/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 97.7% White, 0.2% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.2% from other races, and 1.7% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.3% of the population.
There were 441 households, out of which 32.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.6% were married couples living together, 10.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.2% were non-families. 28.7% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.48 and the average family size was 3.05.
