History

Middle Island is a hamlet located in the Town of Brookhaven in Suffolk County, New York. It is located on the south shore of Long Island, approximately 60 miles east of New York City. The hamlet was originally inhabited by the Setalcott Indians, a branch of the Algonquin tribe.
