Island Park is located at 40°38'25" North, 73°41'17" West (40.640278, -73.688056). It is bordered by Long Beach to the east, Oceanside to the south, and Baldwin to the west. The village is located on a barrier island, which is separated from the mainland by Reynolds Channel.

History

The area that is now Island Park was originally inhabited by the Meroke Indians. The first European settlers arrived in the area in the late 1600s. The area was originally known as "Hog Island" due to the abundance of wild hogs in the area.
In the late 1800s, the area was developed as a resort community. The area was renamed "Island Park" in 1891. The village was incorporated in 1931.
