Geography
Hall is located in the northern part of St. Lawrence County, New York, and is bordered by the towns of Oswegatchie to the north, Clare to the east, and Rossie to the south. The town is located in the Adirondack Mountains and is home to several small lakes, including Lake Ozonia, Lake Lila, and Lake Ozonia. The highest point in the town is an unnamed peak in the Adirondack Mountains, with an elevation of 2,890 feet (881 m).
History
The area that is now Hall was first settled around 1802 by William Hall, who was a veteran of the Revolutionary War. Hall was a surveyor and was hired by the state of New York to survey the area. He was granted a large tract of land in the area, which he named Halltown. The town of Hall was officially established in 1817.
In the early 19th century, the town was a center of the lumber industry, with several sawmills and gristmills operating in the area. The town also had a thriving agricultural industry, with dairy farming being the main source of income for many of the town's residents.
