Geography

Naples is located in the Finger Lakes region of New York. It is bordered by Canandaigua Lake to the north, Honeoye Lake to the east, and Canandaigua Lake to the south. The town is located in the northwest corner of Ontario County and is approximately 25 miles southeast of Rochester.

The area that is now the town of Naples was first settled in 1789 by a group of settlers from Massachusetts. The town was originally part of the town of Richmond, which was formed in 1789. In 1808, the town of Naples was formed from a portion of Richmond. The town was named after Naples, Italy, by one of the early settlers.
The town grew slowly in the early 19th century, with the main industries being farming and lumbering. The town was also known for its mineral springs, which were believed to have healing properties.
In the late 19th century, the town began to develop as a resort area, with several hotels and resorts being built along the lakeshores. The town also became a popular destination for boating and fishing.
