Geography

Hewlett Harbor is located at 40°37'25" North, 73°40'45" West (40.623750, -73.679167). According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.3 square miles (0.8 km2), all land.

History

Hewlett Harbor was originally part of the Town of Hempstead. It was incorporated as a village in 1931. The village was named after the Hewlett family, who were among the earliest settlers in the area.

Economy

Hewlett Harbor is a residential community with no major industries. The village is home to several small businesses, including a marina, a yacht club, and a few restaurants.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there were 1,845 people, 645 households, and 545 families residing in the village. The population density was 6,093.3 people per square mile (2,346.2/km2).
