History

The area that is now Springdale was first settled in the early 1800s by German immigrants. The first settlers were the families of John and Henry Schuchardt, who arrived in 1817. The Schuchardts built a log cabin on the site of what is now the intersection of Winton Road and Kemper Road. The area was known as Schuchardt’s Corner until 1845, when it was renamed Springdale.
The name Springdale was chosen to reflect the area’s natural beauty. The area was known for its many springs, which provided a source of fresh water for the early settlers. The area was also known for its rolling hills and lush vegetation.
In 1845, the first post office was established in Springdale. The first school was built in 1848, and the first church was built in 1851. The first railroad line was built in 1853, connecting Springdale to Cincinnati.
In 1873, the Springdale Water Works was established, providing the area with a reliable source of water. The first fire department was established in 1875.
In the late 1800s, Springdale began to grow rapidly. The population increased from 1,000 in 1880 to 4,000 in 1900. The growth was due in part to the development of the area’s transportation infrastructure, which included the Cincinnati, Hamilton & Dayton Railroad and the Cincinnati & Springdale Electric Railway.
In the early 1900s, Springdale continued to grow. The population increased to 8,000 by 1920. The area was known for its many factories, including the Springdale Foundry, the Springdale Machine Works, and the Springdale Paper Company.

Springdale is located at 39°17'17" North, 84°30'17" West (39.288, -84.504). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 4.2 square miles, all of it land.
The city is located in the Cincinnati metropolitan area, about 10 miles north of the city. It is bordered by the cities of Forest Park to the north, Sharonville to the east, and Glendale to the south.

The economy of Springdale is largely based on manufacturing. The city is home to several large factories, including the Springdale Foundry, the Springdale Machine Works, and the Springdale Paper Company.
