Sebring Summary
Sebring, Ohio is a small village located in Mahoning County, Ohio. It is situated in the Mahoning Valley, which is part of the Appalachian Plateau region of the state. The village is located approximately 30 miles southeast of Youngstown and is part of the Youngstown-Warren-Boardman metropolitan area. The population of Sebring was 4,912 at the 2010 census.
History
The area that is now Sebring was first settled in 1806 by a group of settlers from Connecticut. The village was originally known as Unionville, but was later renamed Sebring in 1833 after the Sebring family, who were early settlers in the area. The village was incorporated in 1867.
In the late 19th century, Sebring was a major center for the production of pottery and ceramics. The Sebring Pottery Company was founded in 1885 and was one of the largest pottery companies in the United States. The company closed in the early 20th century, but the village still has a strong pottery tradition.
Geography
Sebring is located at 40°59'N 81°14'W (40.983, -81.233). According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.3 square miles (3.4 km2), all of it land.

Sebring is a small village with a limited economy. The village is home to several small businesses, including a few restaurants, a grocery store, and a few retail stores. The village also has a few manufacturing companies, including a plastics manufacturer and a metal fabrication company.

As of the 2010 census, there were 4,912 people, 1,945 households, and 1,323 families residing in the village. The population density was 3,743.3 people per square mile (1,444.2/km2). There were 2,093 housing units at an average density of 1,597.3 per square mile (617.2/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 97.2% White, 0.7% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.3% Asian, 0.2% from other races, and 1.4% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.2% of the population.
There were 1,945 households, out of which 28.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.2% were married couples living together, 13.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.2% were non-families. 28.7% of all households were made up of individuals, and 13.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.45 and the average family size was 2.99.
In the village, the population was spread out, with 24.2% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 25.7% from 25 to 44, 24.3% from 45 to 64, and 17.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females, there were 91.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.2 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $33,958, and the median income for a family was $41,964. Males had a median income of $31,964 versus $22,917 for females. The per capita income for the village was $17,845. About 8.2% of families and 10.3% of the population were below the poverty line, including 14.2% of those under age 18 and 8.2% of those age 65 or over.
