Arlington Heights is a village located in Hamilton County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,945 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cincinnati metropolitan area.

History

Arlington Heights was founded in 1817 by a group of settlers from Kentucky. The village was originally known as "Arlington" and was named after the Arlington Plantation, the home of Robert E. Lee in Virginia. The village was incorporated in 1867 and the name was changed to Arlington Heights in 1891.

Geography

Arlington Heights is located at 39°14'25" North, 84°30'17" West (39.240278, -84.504722). According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.2 square miles (3.1 km2), all land.

As of the census of 2000, there were 2,945 people, 1,093 households, and 817 families residing in the village. The population density was 2,521.2 people per square mile (973.2/km2). There were 1,133 housing units at an average density of 962.2 per square mile (371.2/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 97.2% White, 0.7% African American, 0.1% Native American, 0.7% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 0.3% from other races, and 1.0% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.9% of the population.
There were 1,093 households, out of which 33.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.2% were married couples living together, 8.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.2% were non-families. 23.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 9.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.68 and the average family size was 3.19.
In the village, the population was spread out, with 25.2% under the age of 18, 6.2% from 18 to 24, 28.7% from 25 to 44, 25.2% from 45 to 64, and 14.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females, there were 94.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.2 males.
