Zanesfield Summary

Zanesfield is a small village located in Logan County, Ohio. It is situated in the southeastern part of the state, about 25 miles northwest of Columbus. The village has a population of approximately 500 people, and is part of the Bellefontaine Micropolitan Statistical Area.

History

The area that is now Zanesfield was first settled in 1817 by a group of settlers from Pennsylvania. The village was named after Ebenezer Zane, a Revolutionary War veteran who had surveyed the area in 1796. The village was officially incorporated in 1837.
In the late 19th century, Zanesfield was a thriving agricultural community. The village was home to several mills, including a grist mill, a saw mill, and a woolen mill. The village also had a blacksmith shop, a general store, and a post office.

Geography

Zanesfield is located in the southeastern part of Logan County, Ohio. It is situated on the banks of the Mad River, about 25 miles northwest of Columbus. The village has a total area of 0.6 square miles, all of which is land.
The village is located in a rural area, with rolling hills and farmland. The terrain is mostly flat, with some areas of higher elevation. The climate is humid continental, with hot summers and cold winters.
