Waite Hill Summary

Waite Hill is a village located in Lake County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,845 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland–Elyria–Mentor Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History

Waite Hill was founded in 1818 by John Waite, a Revolutionary War veteran. Waite purchased the land from the Connecticut Land Company and named the area after himself. The village was incorporated in 1874.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1,845 people, 690 households, and 545 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,541.2 people per square mile (594.3/km2). There were 717 housing units at an average density of 597.2 per square mile (230.7/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 97.45% White, 0.76% African American, 0.05% Native American, 0.76% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 0.27% from other races, and 0.66% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.76% of the population.
