Tuppers Plains Summary

Tuppers Plains is a small village located in Meigs County, Ohio, United States. It is situated along the Ohio River, approximately 10 miles south of Pomeroy. The population was 545 at the 2010 census.

History

Tuppers Plains was founded in 1817 by John Tupper, a Revolutionary War veteran. The village was originally known as Tupper's Settlement, but the name was changed to Tuppers Plains in 1820. The village was incorporated in 1837.
Tuppers Plains was a major stop on the Ohio and Erie Canal, which was completed in 1832. The canal provided a transportation route for goods and people between the Ohio River and Lake Erie. The canal was a major economic driver for the village, and it helped to spur growth in the area.
The village was also home to a number of industries, including a sawmill, a gristmill, a woolen mill, and a distillery. The distillery was established in 1837 and was one of the first in the state.

Tuppers Plains is a small, rural village with a limited economy. The village is home to a few small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, and a few restaurants.
The village is also home to a number of agricultural operations, including dairy farms, beef farms, and poultry farms. The village is also home to a number of small manufacturing operations, including a furniture factory and a woodworking shop.

As of the 2010 census, there were 545 people, 213 households, and 149 families residing in the village. The population density was 908.3 people per square mile. There were 233 housing units at an average density of 385.0 per square mile.

There were 213 households, out of which 33.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.6% were married couples living together, 11.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.2% were non-families. 28.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.56 and the average family size was 3.14.
In the village, the population was spread out, with 27.2% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 22.2% from 45 to 64, and 14.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females, there were 94.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.2 males.
