Timberlake Summary

Timberlake, Ohio is a small village located in Lorain County, Ohio. It is situated on the east side of the Black River, approximately 25 miles west of Cleveland. The village has a population of approximately 1,000 people and is part of the Elyria Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History

The area that is now Timberlake was first settled in 1817 by a group of settlers from Connecticut. The village was originally known as “New Connecticut” and was later renamed “Timberlake” after a local settler, John Timberlake. The village was officially incorporated in 1837.
In the late 19th century, Timberlake was a thriving agricultural community. The village was home to several mills, including a grist mill, a saw mill, and a woolen mill. The village also had a blacksmith shop, a general store, and a post office.
