Seven Hills Summary

Seven Hills, Ohio is a city located in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States. It is a suburb of Cleveland and is located approximately 10 miles south of the city. The population of Seven Hills was 11,804 at the 2010 census.

History

The area that is now Seven Hills was originally inhabited by the Erie Indians. The first settlers arrived in the area in the late 1700s and early 1800s. The first settler was John Stearns, who arrived in 1810. The area was originally known as Stearns Corners, and the first post office was established in 1817.
In the late 1800s, the area began to grow and develop. The first school was built in 1876, and the first church was built in 1877. The area was officially incorporated as a village in 1921, and the name was changed to Seven Hills in 1923.

Geography

Seven Hills is located at 41°22'25" North, 81°33'17" West (41.373611, -81.554722). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 4.7 square miles, all of it land.

Economy

Seven Hills is a primarily residential community, with a few small businesses located in the city. The largest employer in the city is the Seven Hills School District, which employs over 500 people. Other employers include the city government, local hospitals, and a few small businesses.

As of the 2010 census, there were 11,804 people, 4,717 households, and 3,541 families residing in the city. The population density was 2,500.3 people per square mile. The racial makeup of the city was 92.2% White, 3.2% African American, 0.2% Native American, 1.7% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 0.7% from other races, and 2.0% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.3% of the population.
