Remington Summary
Remington, Ohio is a small village located in the northwest corner of Ohio, in the county of Putnam. It is situated on the banks of the Auglaize River, and is surrounded by rolling hills and farmland. The village has a population of just over 1,000 people, and is a quiet, rural community.
History
The area that is now Remington was first settled in the early 1800s by a group of German immigrants. The village was originally known as “New Germany”, and was later renamed Remington in honor of the Remington family, who were early settlers in the area. The village was officially incorporated in 1875.
In the late 1800s, Remington was a thriving agricultural community, with many of the residents working in the local farms and orchards. The village also had a number of small businesses, including a general store, a blacksmith, and a sawmill.
In the early 1900s, Remington began to experience a period of growth and prosperity. The village was connected to the outside world by the Toledo and Ohio Central Railroad, and the village’s population began to grow. The village also saw the construction of a number of new buildings, including a school, a bank, and a post office.
