Pandora Summary

Pandora, Ohio is a small village located in Putnam County, Ohio. It is situated along the Blanchard River, approximately 30 miles southwest of Toledo. The village has a population of 1,092 as of the 2010 census.

History

The area that is now Pandora was first settled in 1835 by a group of German immigrants. The village was originally known as “New Germany” and was later renamed “Pandora” after the Greek mythological figure. The village was officially incorporated in 1876.

Geography

Pandora is located at 40°45'25"N 84°14'17"W (40.7569, -84.2381). According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.6 square miles (1.6 km2), all of it land.

Economy

The economy of Pandora is largely based on agriculture. The village is home to several farms, including the Pandora Dairy Farm, which produces milk, cheese, and other dairy products. Other local businesses include a hardware store, a grocery store, and a few restaurants.

Demographics

As of the 2010 census, there were 1,092 people, 431 households, and 298 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,813.3 people per square mile (700.3/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 97.3% White, 0.2% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.2% from other races, and 1.9% from two or more races.
