Newport CDP Washington County Summary

Newport Cdp is a census-designated place (CDP) located in Washington County, Ohio. It is situated in the southeastern part of the state, approximately 25 miles east of Marietta and about 50 miles south of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The population of Newport Cdp was 1,845 at the 2010 census.

Geography

Newport Cdp is located at 39°45'25"N, 81°17'45"W (39.7569, -81.2958). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 1.3 square miles (3.4 km2), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there were 1,845 people, 717 households, and 517 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 1,420.3 people per square mile (548.7/km2). There were 762 housing units at an average density of 586.2/sq mi (226.2/km2). The racial makeup of the CDP was 98.37% White, 0.11% African American, 0.11% Native American, 0.11% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 0.05% from other races, and 1.21% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.43% of the population.
There were 717 households, out of which 33.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.2% were married couples living together, 11.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.7% were non-families. 24.7% of all households were made up of individuals, and 11.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.57 and the average family size was 3.05.
In the CDP, the population was spread out, with 26.2% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 24.2% from 45 to 64, and 13.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females, there were 95.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.2 males.
The median income for a household in the CDP was $33,750, and the median income for a family was $38,750. Males had a median income of $30,000 versus $20,000 for females.
