Pittsburg, Ohio is a small village located in the southeastern corner of Tuscarawas County, Ohio. It is situated on the banks of the Tuscarawas River, approximately 25 miles south of Canton and 40 miles east of Akron. The village was founded in 1817 by a group of settlers from Pennsylvania, and was named after the city of Pittsburgh. The village has a population of approximately 1,000 people, and is part of the Dover, Ohio Micropolitan Statistical Area.
Geography
Pittsburg is located at 40°37'N, 81°30'W (40.6167, -81.5000). According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.6 square miles (1.6 km2), all of it land.
The village is located in the Appalachian Plateau region of Ohio, and is surrounded by rolling hills and valleys. The Tuscarawas River runs through the village, and is a popular spot for fishing and canoeing.
