History
Glenmoor was founded in 1817 by a group of settlers from Pennsylvania. The village was originally known as “Glenmoor Station”, and was named after the nearby Glenmoor Creek. The village was incorporated in 1867, and the first post office was established in 1868.
The village was originally a farming community, and the main crops grown were wheat, corn, and oats. In the late 19th century, the village began to develop into a manufacturing center, with several factories being built in the area. The most notable of these was the Glenmoor Iron Works, which was established in 1891. The Iron Works was the largest employer in the village, and employed over 500 people at its peak.
