Dunlap Summary

Dunlap, Ohio is a small village located in the southeastern corner of the state of Ohio. It is situated in the Appalachian foothills, and is part of the Appalachian Plateau region. The village is located in the county of Ross, and is part of the Chillicothe Metropolitan Statistical Area. The village has a population of approximately 1,000 people, and is a rural community with a strong agricultural base.

History

The area that is now Dunlap was first settled in the early 1800s by a group of settlers from Pennsylvania. The village was originally known as “Dunlap’s Station”, and was named after the first settler, John Dunlap. The village was officially incorporated in 1837, and was named after the original settler.
The village was a small farming community for many years, and the main industry was agriculture. The village was also home to a number of small businesses, including a general store, a blacksmith shop, and a sawmill.
In the late 1800s, the village began to grow and develop. The railroad was extended to the village in 1887, and this allowed for the growth of the village. The village was also home to a number of small manufacturing businesses, including a brickyard, a furniture factory, and a canning factory.
