Benton Ridge Summary

Benton Ridge is a small village located in Hancock County, Ohio. It is situated in the northwest corner of the county, just south of the city of Findlay. The village has a population of approximately 500 people and is part of the Findlay Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Geography

Benton Ridge is located at 40°45'25"N, 83°37'45"W (40.7569, -83.6294). The village is situated in the northwest corner of Hancock County, just south of the city of Findlay. It is bordered by the Blanchard River to the east and the Auglaize River to the west. The village is located in the Great Black Swamp region of Ohio, which is characterized by flat terrain and numerous wetlands. The village is located in the Eastern Corn Belt Plains ecoregion, which is characterized by rolling hills and fertile soils.
The village has a total area of 0.6 square miles, all of which is land. The village is located in the Findlay Metropolitan Statistical Area, which has a population of approximately 140,000 people.

History

Benton Ridge was founded in 1837 by a group of settlers from Pennsylvania. The village was named after Thomas Benton, a prominent local politician.
