Whitehall Borough is a borough located in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is a suburb of Pittsburgh, located approximately 10 miles south of the city. The population was 8,919 at the 2010 census.
History
Whitehall Borough was founded in 1788 by William White, a Revolutionary War veteran. The area was originally known as White's Hill, and was part of the larger township of Baldwin. In 1845, the area was incorporated as a borough, and was named after White.
The borough was originally a farming community, but in the late 19th century, it began to develop into a residential suburb of Pittsburgh. The borough was home to several large estates, including the estate of industrialist Henry Clay Frick.

Whitehall Borough is located at 40°20'17" North, 80°2'45" West (40.338, -80.046). According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 2.2 square miles, all of it land.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there were 8,919 people, 3,845 households, and 2,541 families residing in the borough. The population density was 4,072.2 people per square mile (1,571.2/km²). There were 4,039 housing units at an average density of 1,837.2 per square mile (709.7/km²). The racial makeup of the borough was 97.17% White, 0.90% African American, 0.09% Native American, 0.90% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.17% from other races, and 0.75% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.60% of the population.
There were 3,845 households, out of which 25.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.2% were married couples living together, 9.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.2% were non-families. 30.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.31 and the average family size was 2.89.
In the borough the population was spread out, with 20.2% under the age of 18, 5.7% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 24.2% from 45 to 64, and 21.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 43 years. For every 100 females, there were 87.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 83.2 males.
