History

Easton Borough was first settled in 1752 by a group of Moravian missionaries from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The missionaries named the settlement after the biblical city of Bethlehem, which was located in the same region of the Holy Land. The settlement was incorporated as a borough in 1887.
Easton Borough was an important industrial center during the 19th and early 20th centuries. The city was home to several large factories, including the Easton Iron Works, the Easton Rolling Mill, and the Easton Foundry.
