Snydertown borough Summary

Snydertown Borough is a small borough located in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. It is situated in the Susquehanna Valley, approximately 10 miles south of the city of Sunbury. The borough is bordered by the townships of Upper Augusta, West Chillisquaque, and Turbot. The population of Snydertown Borough was 1,093 at the 2010 census.

History

Snydertown was founded in 1845 by John Snyder, a German immigrant who had settled in the area in 1835. He purchased a tract of land from the local Native Americans and established a small village. The village was named after him and was incorporated as a borough in 1867.
The town grew slowly but steadily over the years, and by the early 20th century, it had become a thriving community. The town was home to several businesses, including a sawmill, a grist mill, a blacksmith shop, and a general store. The town also had a post office, a school, and a church.

Geography

Snydertown Borough is located at 40°48'N 76°37'W (40.80, -76.62). According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 0.6 square miles (1.6 km2), all of it land.
The borough is located in the Susquehanna Valley, approximately 10 miles south of the city of Sunbury. The borough is bordered by the townships of Upper Augusta, West Chillisquaque, and Turbot.

The economy of Snydertown Borough is largely based on agriculture. The borough is home to several farms, which produce a variety of crops, including corn, soybeans, hay, and wheat. The borough also has a few small businesses, including a general store, a gas station, and a restaurant.
