Schaefferstown Summary

Schaefferstown is a small borough located in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania. It is situated in the southeastern part of the state, about 10 miles east of the city of Lebanon. The population of Schaefferstown was 545 at the 2010 census.

History

Schaefferstown was founded in 1740 by German immigrant Johann Schaeffer. He purchased a large tract of land from the Penn family and established a settlement that he named Schaefferstown. The town was incorporated in 1845.

The town was an important center of commerce in the 19th century, with several mills and factories located in the area. The town was also home to a large number of German immigrants, who established churches and schools in the area.
