Roseville borough Summary

Roseville Borough is a small borough located in Perry County, Pennsylvania. It is situated in the Susquehanna Valley, approximately 10 miles south of Harrisburg, the state capital. The borough is bordered by Rye Township to the north, Liverpool Township to the east, and Rye Township to the south. The population of Roseville Borough was 1,093 at the 2010 census.

History

Roseville Borough was founded in 1851 by a group of settlers from the nearby town of Liverpool. The town was named after the rose bushes that grew in abundance in the area. The first post office was established in 1854, and the first school was built in 1856.
The borough was incorporated in 1871, and the first mayor was elected in 1872. The first fire company was organized in 1873, and the first church was built in 1875.
The borough was home to several industries, including a sawmill, a grist mill, a tannery, and a brickyard. The brickyard was the largest employer in the borough, and it produced bricks for many of the buildings in the area.
The borough was also home to several schools, including the Roseville Academy, which was founded in 1876. The academy was a private school that offered classes in a variety of subjects, including Latin, Greek, and mathematics.

Geography

Roseville Borough is located at 40°30'N 76°45'W (40.50, -76.75). It is situated in the Susquehanna Valley, approximately 10 miles south of Harrisburg, the state capital. The borough is bordered by Rye Township to the north, Liverpool Township to the east, and Rye Township to the south.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 0.6 square miles (1.6 km2), all of it land.

Economy

The economy of Roseville Borough is largely based on agriculture and tourism. The borough is home to several farms, which produce a variety of crops, including corn, soybeans, and hay. The borough is also home to several wineries, which produce a variety of wines.
