Rockhill borough Summary

Introduction

Rockhill Borough is a borough located in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. It is located in the Lehigh Valley region of the state and is part of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The borough has a population of approximately 2,000 people and is home to a variety of businesses, including a number of small businesses. The borough is also home to a number of historic sites, including the Rockhill Iron Furnace, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

History

Rockhill Borough was founded in 1845 by a group of Quakers who had migrated from England. The borough was named after the nearby Rockhill Iron Furnace, which was built in 1791 and is the oldest surviving iron furnace in the United States. The furnace was used to produce iron for the Revolutionary War and was later used to produce iron for the Union Army during the Civil War.
The borough was originally part of Springfield Township, but was incorporated as a borough in 1845.
