History
Ringtown Borough was founded in 1845 by a group of German immigrants who had settled in the area. The borough was named after the Ringtown Valley, which was named for the abundance of wild turkeys in the area. The first settlers in the area were farmers, and the town quickly grew to include a post office, a general store, a blacksmith shop, and a school.
In the late 19th century, the town began to industrialize, with the opening of a coal mine and a brickyard. The coal mine was the largest employer in the area, and the brickyard provided employment for many of the town’s residents.
