Ridley Park Borough is a small borough located in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. It is situated on the Delaware River, just south of the city of Philadelphia. The borough was incorporated in 1887 and is home to approximately 7,000 residents.

History

Ridley Park was originally part of the larger Ridley Township, which was established in 1687. The area was originally inhabited by the Lenni Lenape Native Americans, who were later displaced by European settlers. The first settlers in the area were Quakers, who established a meeting house in 1701. The area was known as “Ridley” after the local creek, which was named after a prominent Quaker family.
In the late 19th century, the area began to develop as a residential suburb of Philadelphia. The first train station was built in 1872, and the first post office was established in 1887. The same year, Ridley Park was incorporated as a borough.
