History
Prospect Borough was founded in 1854 by a group of settlers from the nearby town of Prospect. The settlers were looking for a place to build a new community, and chose the area due to its proximity to the Allegheny River. The town was originally known as Prospectville, but was later changed to Prospect Borough.
The borough was officially incorporated in 1868, and the first mayor was elected in 1869. The town quickly grew, and by the early 1900s, it had become a thriving community with a population of over 1,000.
The borough was home to several industries, including a brickyard, a sawmill, and a flour mill. The town also had a number of stores, churches, and schools.
